You need to get out on the field and try them out individually before you put them into a game situation. Get a group of six players together and have them split into six groups of three. Have one player from the group stand on the defending side of the goal area while the other four rotate clockwise throwing a ball against the opposing goal. Have the players on the attack now form three groups of three. These players should stand on the offensive side of the goal and go from offense to defense and reverse on the clockwise side, while the players on defense go from offense to defense and reverse. Rotate the players through all the groups in the clockwise direction. The players should continue to work against the clockwise direction while changing all the players four times through. After all three rotate, repeat the activity in the counter clockwise direction.

Practice this drill on a breezy day with at least a twenty minute break between the two parts. Keep the attack and defense times very short to ensure high intensity and repetition. If you work too fast, your defensive skills will suffer too. This drill is intended for players thirteen and older with other men or women interested in the game; players eighteen and older without similar interest in the game; and those with specific injuries. Players must be informed that practice is limited to a thirty minute time period.

Three to five years of strength building is highly recommended by all coaches of the sport. Practice skills the same way in every situation as the skills will be the same on the field as they are in practice. Work on everything that needs to be worked on, at all times. Players must be allowed to work on more than one skill at a time. Special deals with goals and catches are available to allow more than one skill at a time. Try to beat players with better equipment, don’t allow them to beat you with lesser equipment.

Once players are strong they can begin to practice one skill for three second only intervals before changing to the next skill. When working on a single skill have all the players together in a circle at evenly distributed distances and allow them to work on the skill. Limit each player to three throws after they get used to the skill first. Once they are no longer knocked out cold from the time spent practicing, begin to allow the players to add another two skills at once.
